Professorship for Theory of Machine Learning

Our group is working towards the theoretical understanding of machine learning algorithms. We are interested in questions such as: What kind of guarantees can we give for a specific class of algorithms? Can we pinpoint failure cases of well-known methods? At the moment, our focus is on interpretable AI, that is, the set of methods used to explain the decisions of black-box algorithms.
