Computational and Theoretical Biology

The Chair of Computational and Theoretical Biology focuses on understanding spatial interactions in biological systems across multiple length scales, from subcellular structures to multicellular and multitissue organization. The chair develops and applies data-driven approaches to investigate how structure and function interact in complex biological systems, combining methods from image analysis, spatial statistics, classical data analysis, and machine learning. Through close interdisciplinary collaboration with experts from the life sciences and related fields, the chair addresses application-oriented research questions grounded in real experimental and observational data.
