At this year’s BVM workshop in Regensburg, researchers and students from the Pattern Recognition Group and the AIMI lab showcased their work on diverse medical imaging topics.

Fateme Atayi joined the Pattern Recognition Group/AIMI lab at CAIDAS as a PhD student in February 2025. She holds a Master’s degree in Computational Engineering from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, with specialization in medical image and data processing. During her master’s studies, she focused on applying deep learning techniques to analyze and process X-ray images. In her PhD research, she is developing machine learning-based device enhancement techniques for angiography data in collaboration with Siemens Healthineers in Forchheim, under the supervision of Prof. Katharina Breininger.

On January 23rd, AIMI-member Frauke Wilm successfully defended her dissertation “Cross-Domain Generalization of Deep Learning-Based Image Analysis Algorithms in Histopathology” at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg.
